Granite

Granite benches represent quality and style. For many, a Granite bench is the feature in their kitchen. No two pieces are identical as Granite is a natural stone and each piece has its own unique characteristics. Usually presented in a polished finish, some people opt for a hones finish where the top surface has been honed and then sealed which takes the shine away.

Disadvantages

Can be expensive
Islands need to be restricted to fit within Granite length or have a join
Glasses can break if dropped heavily on bench
Honed surfaces can be porous.
